How to Put the Spark Back into Your Relationship this Valentine’s Day

Of course you love your significant other; but if you’ve been with them for quite some time now, there’s the chance that things aren’t like they used to be in the beginning. So since love is in the air with Valentine’s Day upon us, be sure to check out the following ways to ignite that old spark and bring the passion and excitement back to your relationship this February 14th:
Get out of town. One of the best ways to feel like you felt when you first started dating is to get out of the same old, monotonous routine of everyday life. Plan a trip for you and your honey to leave town and go someplace special. Even if it’s just for a few days or only a night, some alone time spent away from the kids, work and home will let you relax and enjoy quality bonding to reconnect with each other.
Write a love letter. Sometimes, when you’ve been with someone for what feels like forever, you might just assume they already know that you love them – but this is not always the case. Just because you’re not a new couple anymore doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t reassure them that your feelings are still true. You don’t have to pen words like William Shakespeare to tell your partner how much they mean to you…even just a few simple words from the heart written on a sticky note can mean the world to someone who needs to hear that you love them.
Get hot in the kitchen. Sometimes, some of the most romantic memories can be made at home…and what better way to heat things up than by doing so in the kitchen? Get the house to yourself, light some candles, turn on some Ray Charles and cancel the reservations you made at the fanciest restaurant in town. Adding spices to a delicious meal that you make together provides an intimate experience and will be sure to add spice to your relationship as well.
Be crafty. Sure, everyone likes to receive lavish gifts on Valentine’s Day…who wouldn’t love a dozen long stem red roses, the most expensive chocolates or even a set of diamonds? But if you’re trying to put the spark back into a relationship, a great way to do it is with an original, homemade gift. Consider making something for your partner that they will cherish forever. You don’t have to be Martha Stewart, but a scrapbook of memories, a coupon-book for date nights or even a CD compiled with your favorite songs is more thoughtful and more special than any item bought from the store.
Take a break from technology. In our world today, we are connected through our phones, email, various social networking platforms, TVs and other technology that prevents us from actually connecting with our partners. This Valentine’s Day, show your partner that they mean more to you than technology and turn off all devices to concentrate solely on the one you love. Getting back to basics and forgetting about all outside distractions will help the two of you realize why you fell in love in the first place…and you are sure to fall in love all over again on your best Valentine’s Day yet!
